“ Wonderful service. Our reservation was not honored for some time so we were treated to 2 free appetizers. The Host and Waitress were lovely, even the cook came out to our table. Food was excellent with great variety. This spot for years went through restaurant after restaurant, but Jewel of Himalaya is here to stay. ”
“ Everything. LOVE the food and the people. The place is clean and ambiance is nice for date night or family. I recommend. ”
“ We have eaten here about 4 times, every time the food has been good, the wait staff cannot be nicer and the ambiance is peaceful and welcoming. If however you are looking for traditional Indian cuisine (American style) you won't find it here. The food is Himalayan cuisine, while the offerings are what you would find in most Indian restaurants, the Himalayan flavors, while tasty, are not traditional Indian flavors. ”
“ This place tastes fresh and authentic. Service is quick and the servers are nice. The korma is sweet and rich. The murgha tastes a little like tikka masala. The samosas are always stuffed a lot with vegetables and come out warm. You have to try the naans. Our fave is the himalayan- sweet and salty. ”
“ I love Indian cuisine and this place really stands apart from the rest!! FOOD IS GREAT!! Service is always top notch! The ambiance makes you feel as if you're somewhere in midtown Manhattan! Really love the decor, bar area and selection is top tier! The first time we went, we ended up back there a second time within the same week! Heading there this Saturday with friends! Everyone we've take there absolutely loves it! The Chicken Soup is out of this world!!! The complexity of flavors is unexpected! Nothing is too much and everything is like a well orchestrated symphony!!! Well done and can't wait for another meal!!! ”
“ Shame on me!! I have been here well over 2 dozen times and I have never ever reviewed one of my favorite ethnic eats around! This place hits it outta the park from location, parking, decor, service and food-the only knock I can give it is for being closed on Mondays, but sources tell me, that's not too fair. JOH is located in a strip mall and for that reason, offers a plethora of spots for parking. During summer and early fall days, outdoor seating is offered. This place is pretty hot in terms of clientele so if dining on the weekend, I strongly encourage you to make a reservation. The host/hostess-oh my---so very endearing and pleasant and so happy to do what they do! The staff is fabulous from management to servers to table runners-always smiling and looking to please. Their naan bread is ridiculous-the spinach naan is my favorite and is delicate yet robust! All of their tikkas are excellent and their rice is phenomenal! On its own, filled with flavor and perfect texture. With their accompanying meal, a perfect marriage. Only once was I not pleased with a dish I ordered and management was so quick to fix and remedy. The sha phaley appetizer is delicious as is the dipping sauce. Their lunch specials are available until 3 and offer you the choice of having a combination of 2 chickens/beef with rice and a fabulous way to try some dishes. Their korma is the best I have had. Their Murgh makhini is an addiction I am trying to control. Also medium is pretty spicy in terms of heat so do be conscious of this when ordering. I ordered spicy one time and I have to admit, took me a few meals to complete. I could eat this food everyday and really be satisfied between the food and all the perfect melding of flavors they have to offer as well as the endearing service that comes with it. Worth a try for sure and if you don't like spice, order mild but this place will not disappoint and is the perfect answer if you are having a bad day. I know I have pictures of my meals here-i just have to sift through some 20,000 pics! By the way great spot to celebrate a birthday but if you have an auditory sensory issue, do not let them know-the Gong comes out! ”
“ If you've eaten at The Naan this is better. Clean and tastefully done. We ordered lunch specials in each of the chicken, beef and mutton. DELICIOUS. Good quality & quantity of meat in each of the 6 curries, I'm truly impressed and definitely a regular now. Service is second to none, everyone smiles and is happy to help! Plus they are kind enough to always allow me to bring my son's home cooked food (he's anaphylactic to various foods). ”
“ I have been dying to try this place for a long time but my wife doesn't like Indian food so I had to wait for her to be out of town haha. It was delicious, the flavors are amazing, fresh ingredients and overall wonderful. The tika masala with NaaN was my favorite but the noodles were also incredible ”
“ YUM. This place has amazing food. The murg makhini was creamy and delicious and the chicken korma was to die for, we soaked up every bit of the sauce with our garlic naan. The service was just as great as the food and the music added a wonderful zen atmosphere to it all. They even have a nice patio to sit on. I can't wait for the tea room next door to open! ”
“ Jewel of the Himalaya is a gem. This is a really nice restaurant with classy service. "Namaste" I was introduced to this cuisine in Towson MD and thrilled to hear that in Newtown I could enjoy it again. We came here for lunch and had a blast. The food was amazing, I loved the lunch specials, and the Himalayan naan, is good for breakfast, lunch, brunch, a snack, dinner, and dessert. Loved it! This is definitely a location to return to, and explore the rest of their amazing menu. "Namaste" ”
